Remington Model 40x Target Rifle

I don't see how you could go wrong ... as long as the rifle is in good condition.
And, there are many resources available to maintain and/or restore a 40X.

I bought a Ural from a member about a month ago and shot it last week with Wolf Target and got a .3 inch 5 shot group at 50 yards. My brother's group was even better I have never shot anything so accurate. I ordered a HB 40x this afternoon and will be surprised if it shoots that well.

The 40X certainly has more sex appeal, but the Urals preform pretty good. So it is either ugly or pretty, you pay your money and get to make the choice. Finding parts and accessories would be easier for the Rem.

So many old classic target rifles for sale.......and too little money in the Swiss camp......:(
I got to check out an old beat up 40X from a club I use to be a member of & had it for 3 years.
I loved that rifle, it was the late 50's model.
The lightest the trigger pull would go down too was 2 lbs.
The Ural would have the edge there.

i have a 40xhbcivilian with a 6 oz. trigger shoots very well.
i also have a ural with a 6 oz. trigger shoots very well.
the 40x has a harrell tuner, i'm getting one for the ural.
all things considered they shoot about equally.

Thats what I would think. I think the Ural stock design would be more
comfortable for position shooting.
