There are several on Gunbroker including a "hog" hunter model at $449, number is 792218669, has a shorter barrel and iron sights and is threaded for a suppressor.

Thanks for your reply, I would like to know of anyone's experience with this rifle. I have one available locally and want to know if the model 10 223 is as accurate and reliable as the 22 calibers with accu-trigger.

Is the model 10 you are looking at a std barrel or heavy? My sons model 10 heavy barrel, tupper ware stock, pre accu-trigger with a weaver v-16 with a dot can do dime size groups at 100 yds. That's with handloads of h335 55gr vmax and these are just thrown together nothing special. I also have a stevens 200 (basically a model 10) in 223 no accu- trigger but adjustable, std barrel and pmc ammo will do 3/4 in groups at 100yds. I think if I had a dot scope it would help instead of a duplex just finer aiming with the dot. I don't think you can go wrong on this one. Good luck

Thanks for your replies, I got this one in the house. It is the 26" heavy barrel and is mounted in a Major John Plaster custom stock with Burris Full-Field 3x9x40 on top in Leupold mounts and Accu-trigger. Haven't had it out yet but if it can equal its little brothers (rimfire) I will be well pleased.:bthumb:

Just bought 2 Savage 10 SBA threaded Heavy 20" barrels, tactical bolt handles & 2 6.5 CM 24" threaded Heavy Barrels for $329/shipped each. The Creedmoors come with 20 moa Pic rails. Can't beat these prices or quality IMHO. :bthumb:

I have an older model 12, HB , preaccutrigger, in a Tupperware stock. It came with a big Tasco target scope with a prairie dog on it. Mustíve been some sort of package. The trigger is adjustable, and is super light. On a bipod with a rear bag and 50 grain max ammo by fiocchi it is super accurate. Anything up to 55 grain. After that itís just ok. I think about buying it a nice stock , but always backoff. Itís agreat shooter the way it is.

I have always liked savages, the have always shot well for me.

Savage model 10 follow-up
Well guys, I feel like I need to pass on the results of this 223. I did change out the Burris scope for a Nikko-Sterling Diamond long range 6X24X50 with an amazing reticle and return to zero turrets. Leveled the scope, laser bore sight, set Accu-trigger to lowest factory setting and tried a digital pull gauge which shows 2 lb. 8 oz. Off to the range for fifty yds first and after a few shots (8) was literally putting them in one hole from a bench rest and rear bag. Shooting Hornady factory Superformance 55gr. Went on out to 100 yds and groups opened only a little over nickel size. I had the scope on 10X at 50 yds and 16X at 100.
I am very happy and do not feel any remorse for my upcoming prairie dog shoot on the southwest slopes of Colorado.:bthumb:
