Rifle balance?
Is there an ideal balance point on where the rifle should rest on the front rest? Or is it one of them things that every rifle is different ?
I was wondering if where the bags contacts the stock with influence the vertical ? Am I overthinking things? Thanks |
Run a simple test. Put the front rest as far back as you can without the rifle tipping forward. Put the front rest as far forward as you can. If you see any differences then your answer is "yes".

I found that my rifle shot more consistently with the front bag just under the front of the forearm. Any further back groups opened up, unexplained fliers. But, I'll bet it is different for each rifle/ammo combination.

Front rest at the front of the forearm should be the best. The pro's all place it there for a reason. Reason being is better stability and any movement on the rear bag is lessened at the muzzle.
