Yea, I called on a Tuesday ... wasn't thinking.
Can't call today, I'll be asleep.
Yesterday, I was notified ...
I've been assigned to third shift - starting today.

To visit Altius Handcrafted Firearms in person:

Response From Altuis

A few days ago, I received an email update from Altius.
I didn't post it right away because I just didn't have the time to do so.

Today, I was notified by phone at 0553H
that my scheduled over-time had been canceled.

A fellow officer, unexpectedly, was medically cleared to return to duty.
She needs to build hours to be able to receive a full paycheck -
does not have sufficient vacation or to medical leave "on the books."
So, she took my spot on the roster and my over-time by default.

Well, I needed the day-off anyway.
I'm burned-out working my regular 3rd shift.
And, then, trying to work over-time on day-shift - it's hard.

Here is the update I received from Altius:
Quote:

Larsen will ship rifles to me next week so I should see them in 2-3 weeks.
No word from him yet on the potential availability of the other models you were interested in.
I'll keep you posted on that.

I can get you the Sobol (LEGION) for $850 if you are interested.

Ya overtime pay is great for a while but it does have its down side
about it to. I use to have a part time job helping out my old boss.
So I was putting in 40hrs plus my part time job of 10-15hrs a week.
Thats where I got the $$ to buy an new CZ-Varmint, BB, & CM-2 Cadet in
the same year. :D I hope you recieve your new Russian rifle soon.

I had decided to take the last few days-off from work
to get some tasks around-the-house done.

My wife has me planting shrubs, bushes and a tree - a lot of hole digging.
I still need to trim our pecan trees and hedges.
And, remove a bunch of weeds by hand - dandelions, milkweed and desert related tubers .
My wife is allergic to herbicides and pesticides.

Subject: Biathlon 7-2 KO Version 05 (Model not being imported)

Mr. Sheppard,
Would it be possible for you to import this rifle via Mr. Larsen.

Биатлон-7-2-КО исп. 05
"Biathlon-7-2-KO" ep. 05 "05"
Biathlon 7-2 KO Version 05 - (Биатлон-7-2-КО исп. 05)

I believe there is a market for this model that Russian American Armory is not serving.

And, to a lesser extent, the following models should spark some buyer interest.

Биатлон 7-2-КО
Biathlon 7-2 - KO
BIATHLON MODEL 7-2KO Hunting Rifle (BI-7-2KO)

Biathlon Basic 7-2 KO w/Dioptrical Sighting Device
IZHMASH Biathlon Basic

Биатлон 7-3 "Кадет"
"Biathlon 7-3" Cadet "
Biathlon 7-3 Kadet (Биатлон 7-3 "Кадет")
I think that these models that are not being currently imported do have a market niche
that is being overlooked or ignored by other Russian firearms importers/distributors.

Not for sale in the USA: Importable: but, EXCLUDED Russian Models & Varients

However, Marc indicated he had conferred with Larson
about the other rifles I was interested in.

Mr. Larson said, he would look into it.
When? After he is finished with the biathlon competition
he is currently involved with.

Progress ... I'd like to think so.
At the very least, a European exporter and an American importer
are concurrently looking into the possibility of handling
an Izhmash model that RAA is not importing.

Just got off the phone with Marc at Altius about two hours ago.
I had just sent him an email about the Larsen Recruit Rifles he is about to receive.

I left-out an important question, whether there was any progress
on the importation of the other rifles I was interested in.

His answer was not encouraging.

Apparently, Mr. Larsen has not addressed the issue.
Seems, he maybe avoiding the question.

Marc stated he would be in communication with Mr. Larsen by phone ... soon.
And, the issue of importing other Izhmash rifles would be brought-up ... once, again.

It should have said "of (your) Recruit Rifle."

International Trade Fair for Hunting and Sporting Arms, Outdoor articles and Accessories IWA-2002
Quote:

Norwegian company Kjel Larssen has drafted a plan to introduce the rifle for junior and teenagers biathlon.

During the meeting with representatives of Arms Design Centre of Concern Izhmash
the company marked main specifications of that rifle and made a request to design one.

Olympic champion Kati Wilhelm has been appearing at all competitions
with Russian rifle "Biathlon" she bought it in Norway from Kjel Larssen.

Besides Kati Wilhelm, another German Frank Luck has won the gold in Salt Lake City.
He also competes with Izhevsk "Biathlon".

As a whole German biathlon team has four Izhevsk "Biathlon" rifles,
it evidences not only of domestic rifles quality
but of Izhevsk rifles competitive ability increasing as well.
By the way, as soon as I get images of the Legion Sobol, I'll post them.

This is great news. The rifle looks like a 7-4 without all of the straps and harnesses. Enjoy the rifle.

mr_ouija 05-31-2008 12:15 PM

That is very sharp looking!

That looks like a fun rifle.
Good luck.

Recruit Rifle & Carry

Kevin,

You reminded me of a shortcoming of the Recruit Rifles.
They were not intended to be carried.
Rather, they are not accessorized for carry.
But, sooner or later, I'm intending to carry my rifle.

As such, stock modifications for carry are in-order.
Or, I will need to buy another stock and modify it for carry purposes.

The Product no.: 10 020-Juli may be the model that is properly outfitted for carrying.

However, it was not available from Altius - not a version he received.

Anyway, just the excuse I need for a spare stock - or, another rifle :bthumb:.

Not yet ... the rifle is still in the FFL network.
Hasn't arrived at my FFLs location.

Kevin6q 06-03-2008 07:49 PM

What's nice about the stock you have now is the ability to cut fresh tracks into it for the harness. Altius makes a nice carry harness based on an Annie mount.

MODERATOR: Working Overtime ... Intermittently

Some of you may have noticed I've been working the forum
on a daily basis.

I was off-work for twelve days - 18th to the 29th of May.
My time-off ended and new work-cycle began on 30 May.
But, I had to cut short my duty by two days.

I've not been feeling well.
Not bad enough to leave work ... not bad enough to call-in sick.
But, bad enough to not want to be a work.

As such, over-time has not been a consideration.
The Good ... And, the Bad.
Good, because I have a choice to work over-time or not.
Bad, because my firearm fund is not being replenished.

Third shift has been a struggle.
The hardest thing about night shift is staying awake and alert.
Other than that ... it is not difficult.

I'll be going to the doctor in the morning.
My wife made an appointment for me.
Maybe, he will be able to tell me what's wrong.
Hopefully, he'll give me something that will make me feel better.
