Today spent some time on the range with TOZ 17-01 to see what it capable. It can show better result than I am - that is for sure. Each target has a 5 rounds in it.

It is not the best groups and better eyes might do better. Old stock Federal 711b (1080 fps) ammo used for this exercise and found best in comparison to other Federal HV (1200 fps). Weather was very nice and quiet with beautiful sunset after busy day. Time was spent with joy!

To warm up a topic

To warm up a topic will post a picture of a Hero :)

Scope is a clone of a Chinese Red Star. The first scope was a better one, but rear sight was a problem and I did not like how she looked.
Scope on the picture below is meant to be for such rifle, but priced way too much to pay for it:

And rings for PU scope are hard to find, so this setup is a acceptable compromise considering range report above.:bthumb:

A little incident has happen that day on the range: leather parts of a sling dried out so much and been ripped apart. Now I have to learn to become a leather craftsman to repair that piece.
What is good about our hobby is there are lot of knowledge and skills should be learned to keep things rolling and that is a beauty of it!

New life of an old thing

Unfortunately that site does not sell overseas, but I developed my skills and have all leather parts manufactured by myself. I like my old sling a lot because it can be used as a normal hunting rifle sling as well as real target rifle sling EASY. It is my first leather crafting project, so it is not perfect, but useful and leather is fresh.

Magazine substitution

As it well known magazine for this rifle are very hard to find and when you spot remaining supply, it might be expensive to the point you walk away off that deal.
A while ago someone made handful post where was recommended to use Mossberg magazine. I bought one and it was sitting in the closet for better time to prove an idea. So now is a such time finally came and that idea is proven to be useful. Only one stop need to be soldered on the body.
It has my problem solved. Now I have very functional 10 round spare for my TOZ 17-01 and do not need to hunt them any more. I hope to put a nice finish on it soon and will post final product.

Mossberg item number# 95803
