Got a new toy . . .err air rifle!

Well, here it is! This was my find last week, a CZ Slavia 622 .22-caliber break-barrel Spring Piston. Yes, there are spots of rust on the exterior, and the first order of business with it was taking it out of the stock and giving it a liberal dosing of Beeman MP-5 oil on the exterior metal!

Yes, the stock is a little worn and the sole side stock screw is not tight (will have to look for proper replacements)...

Nothing like keeping an airgun in the family..sentimental values is what really matter.

I hope to pass on one of my most pride and joy to my kids one day.....

It wasn't a family gun, I found it laying on a table at an auction (had walked past it once, and stunned the second go-around when I saw it). Since it was a Slavia, and .22 at that, I became interested. So now it rests with a new family - the other air guns/BB guns I have.

That is so cool . . .

. . . I wish I had luck like that when I go table hopping. I have a very similar Brno 618 .177 pellet I purchased here at RFC For Sale / Trade forum below, but it needs a new seal desperately to work - I haven't even found out how to take it apart yet. Got a beech 'blondie' colored stock. These rifles sure a light - make for a great backyard plinker.

I hope yours shoots better than you expect.

Hey, think I found what I needed on Slavia 618 disassembly. . .

. . . am sharing with you folks to save you some bother as well. Pretty sure the 620 is very similar as well. Page 6 of google search - gotta be dedicated sometimes. Post 29 - 30 to be specific.

Got it

Hey, J. R., I think you found it alright. I already had the Blog marked in my Favorites (been enjoying his work on the 1377 project). I do plan to attempt disassembly, though not immediately.

Even more information on 618 here . . .

. . . a person on the NZ air firearm board helped me out be sending an exploded view schematic of the 618 - helps keeps parts in reference. Might be of use for disassembly of 620 as well.

Bought a 618 three months ago for my Son for $25! Worked fine for a while but I noticed some play in the forward cylinder area just aft of the transfer port where the cylinder is knurled, looks like it's causing air to leak and lower the velocity.

Looks like I will need to find a replacement cylinder. I emailed CZ about parts, they no longer make spares for a gun that was discontinued in 1977!

Sir, if you register on this New Zealand air rifle web site, there is a gentleman there who may be able to help you with parts and information. His name is whitehat - here is a post on the 618 with his participation, in fact where he gave me the above schematic.

I hope this helps.

I have one of those little springers. A Slavia 618. It belonged to my late great uncle. He used to control sparrows and such on his farm. Nice, accurate little bugger!
