Sights: Leupold VX-6 3-18X 44mm FireDot set at 18x.
Ammo: Lapua Center-X.
Conditions: 60- Overcast with winds at 3-5mph quartering.
Scores: 47-1X, 46-1X, 45-0X, 45-0X, 48-1X

Put a new scope on my Kidd that turned out to be awesome for offhand shooting.
Leupold VX-6 3-18 44mm FireDot Duplex. The dot is only .170 inch at 50yds (Tiny).
It's amazing how well it leads your eye onto the target. Love it!

Internet photo, but it does show the dot pretty accurately. I have mine set two steps higher on brightness.

Smooth
Just a reminder that a 10/22 can do just fine in this competition.

Those are some very trick 1022s. Obviously the problem is with me, not the gun. It just doesn't fit me very well at the moment.

That Bell and Carson stock might be just the ticket.

25 yard irons practice

25 yard iron sight practice, 16 May, 2017
Name: bberg7794 (Brian, 50)
Location: St. Lawrence County, NY
Gun: BSA International ISU (MK IV)
Gun setup: ___Scope __X_Iron sights ___Sling
Sights: Parker Hale PH 25C/PH-1 rear/front. Gehmann adjustable iris rear, 5.2 mm pink aperture in front, shooting coat, borrowed forend riser.
Ammo: Aguilla Target Rifle

Target no. 1: 445-4x 80, 92-1x, 87-1x, 93-1x, 91-1x

Target no. 2: 453-7x 91-1x, 92-2x, 88-1x, 88-1x, 94-2x

Notes: 70 degrees or so with a varying up to 8 mph breeze from behind-beautiful weather. There was a gentleman shooting a 1903 Springfield a few positions behind me and his rifle came apart on him. He was cut across the nose and forehead. I was able to get some first aid materials together and get the bleeding stopped and get him cleaned up a bit. He was lucky it wasn't worse. The entire top half of the receiver ring and part of the left hand side of the action was missing. After the bang, I heard material hitting the metal roof, which caused me to look back to see stock splinters raining down. One of the stock splinters flew 15 yards. We did not find any of the metal from the receiver.

Managed a 460-9X with the irons gun yesterday, beating my monthly best by 1 point.
Working hard to maintain a consistent, proper shot routine. Which includes not over-holding but setting the gun down for a restart of the shot if necessary. That is paying off, but I still let a couple slip by that part-and of course paid a price in points.

All in all, I am REALLY enjoying shooting the peeps this month. Its going so well I might not have time to do a scoped set...

I will say, David should be all set for a really good showing in the big silhouette matches.

still having fun here...

Today I went out in all confidence to shoot a great irons score, building on my good irons month so far.
After a sight check, my 1st bull was a pretty 95.
Bull 2 saw a 6 & an 8 creep in.
Bull 3 started ok with tens & nines, then I jerked one and threw a ZERO.
Why the nerves took over like that I do not know, but I just quit the set right there.
I can forgive myself a zero at 50 yds, but at 25 ? Never.

Rather than give up for the day I thought I'd try something new for me, Irons at 50.
I had never tried it because I could not see the bulls well enough to know I was even on the right bull. So I used some single-bull targets and had fun. I surprised myself with how well I could see the lone bull in the front ring and how well I could lob a round onto the paper !
Nothing earth shaking but I managed a 138 on this my first attempt. There were 6 zeroes, I think I can do better next time.
I was almost tempted to try it at 100 Yds as practice for my flintlock gong shooting
Cheers
Bob
