It can get serious when you get near the top of the heap. Each point gets harder to get as you go up in score. The bull is .244", OFF HAND, no support, no sling, no leaning, no bench.

I have been using a weaver K16 fixed for a lot of years. I bought a V16 and tried that. One ounce more than the K16, so I had to go back. 7.5 lb max weight limit including magazine. I shoot an anschutz 1416 HB with the 2 stage trigger.

Our fearless team captain uses a 40x scope. I do not know the brand. He had to lighten the gun a LOT.
The best man on the team I shot on last year uses a 7x. Its all up to the shooter. Trigger pull and follow through are most important.

We get about 25 shooters a week at one club, another gets about 100. My daughter waits in line to shoot every thursday night. There are 10 shooting lanes.

I have the Grand Slam 5-20 but it only goes down to 25 yards. Useless for Sporter rifle. MY t-36 only goes down to 50 yards, so I can't even use it for the 25 yard RFC offhand match. I bought it for Silhouettes. I will let you know how it works when the season starts. It goes on a 64 MS. I have tried it for 50 yard RFC offhand rifle match. works great.

You folks that think 50 feet is easy, stop by and show me.

I shoot scope and Irons.

David

I shoot at my local indoor range sometimes when the weather outside isn't cooperating. The range is only 15 yards. I sometimes shoot scopes with 100 yard parallax at that distance without a problem. Parallax isn't an issue if you have a consistent cheek weld shot to shot, at least not for me. Even so if I'm putting a scope on a rifle that I know I will be shooting at 25-50 yards a lot, then I will get one that adjust down to 25 yards or less.

Today's practice target #4 10 shots, 50 feet.

MP R with peep and globe.
No weight limit for Irons in my league.

Discontinued models, but the Sightron Big Sky had a fixed 12x (I still have one of those) and a 3-12x that's about 1 1/4" shorter than a V16 and will focus to 10 yards... nice scopes that can still be found... getting harder though.

David, I'm shooting the same league with a Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 3-9x40 sf, it goes down to 50'. Bought it on sale, then the 4.5-14x44 went one sale for the same price. I think they've been discontinued, but if you can find one I believe it would suit your purpose.

You still shooting? We wrapped up two weeks ago.

Look at the Hawke and Leapers scopes, they are made for airrifles and powder rifles. The recoil of a 22 is not even close to that of a springer so they will hold up and most have sidefocus.

50'

We shoot indoor 3 position at 50' with mostly Anschutz free rifles and most use the 6.5-20 efr from Leupold. We also shoot "squirrel rifle" very similar to CMP rimfire sporter. Depending on the game, the magnification may need to be as low as 6x. I will have to look up that Sightron. Weight limits require a fairly light scope, because we want a fairly long and heavy barrel for steady shooting in offhand. Of course in prone we tend to have the scope closer to our eye, so eye relief is critical.

Im in the same boat. Its very hard to find a affordable scope that has the ability to focus at 50 feet and has a very fine crosshair for indoor shoots. Im currently using a vx3 6.5-20 non efr but i put the 50 foot focus adapter on it. Its a long scope but its working good for me.

A scope ive been eyeing up is the athlon neos. It focuses down to 10 yards but im not sure how the reticle choices would work for me. Its cheap enough to give a try but its probably cheap enough that the glass sucks. Although the mueller apvs are dirt cheap to and those scopes are awesome. The reticle is just way too thick.

I would bet it's pretty good. I have the Midas 4.5-27 and its glass is very good, especially for the price. Has a great reticle, too.
