Spotted in a LGS a couple of weeks ago I didn't even look to see how it was priced, I like the 22" barreled rifles out with 8 modded rifles and 1 dead stock I just wasn't really anxious for another. Then yesterday its tag was turned where it could be seen and I was surprised as it was $219 and included a Barska 2.5x which is now in the box o scopes, a Simmons 3-9x 22 Mag. scope is mounted for now to allow a bit of testing. The rifle has seen some use and will need a good internal cleaning but that will likely come after I done at least a little shooting to see what might need immediate attention. The trigger at least is far from the worst I've seen but I don't think its had trigger job, I'd be ecstatic if it were to shot as well as its blued 22" cousin that is dead bang stock. Only time will tell.

Nice score!
I have two of those. One with plain walnut like that and one with very gorgeous wood.

I love those 22" inch s/s models, wish they'd do another run.

Very nice find! I still have a boot mark on my butt for not getting one when they were in the rack cheap at Wally's. Who knew?

There was another recent thread about these WM specials.

The cool thing is that Ruger is currently making that gun as another distributor special: http://www.ruger-firearms.com/produc...eets/1149.html

Don't understand why the newest Lipsey's 22" exclusive didn't come with walnut like the Deluxe Sporter. Not a fan of the flat silver and black barrels either. Glad mine is the shiny silver barrel.

Cheaper production. Seems everything is matt, flat, black, plastic or laminated.

My stock is Beech (the distinctive "rays" give it away) but is in the DSP configuration which I really like, no idea how this one will morph out, likely just send the trigger and another I have to Brimstone and the rest off to Randy at CPC, leave the appearance basically stock, not sure at this point.

Walmart special/s

My first one is tiger stripped. Don't know what wood it is but it's beautiful.

My second one is the one I bought my dad back around 2004 and it's just plain one tone walnut.
Dads was transplanted into a Boyd's stock with a GM bull barrel.
I did find where he stashed the box with original barrel and wood though.

Most of Rugers "hardwood stocks", non-walnut, will be Birch or Beech.

So I have one in beach and one in walnut.
Is that what your saying it most likely is.

The "rays" as you call them or stripes with the finish is just spectacular.

The Beech and Birch can be spectacular in their own way and are actually likely slightly structurally sounder than figured Walnut. This Wifama stock really shows the "rays" that Beech can have.

The area under the rear sight and then along the top edge of the butt stock show the "rays" as some call them very well, some also say they resemble scales or finger nail marks.
