Welcome to the forum.....I once seen a friend cut a 452 Trainer off right behind the front sight , accuracy was the same as before, hard to say if yours will do the same, if the accuracy is good now I would not chance it , get a 455 with a 20.5" barrel

Why shortening it? For optics or suppressor? Have you heard of Ultra Lux? It's got almost 29" inches of barrel for you to play with and deadly accurate. I would hold off on the 455 and find yourself a 452 American.

WELCOME!
Are you using the iron sights to squirrel hunt with?
Why do you want to shorten the barrel? Supressor, maneuverability, weight, etc.

Just trying to figure out your purpose, so we can make a suggestion appropriate to youour needs.

Glad to have a New Member.

My trouble with shortening the barrel on a 452 Trainer is the difficulty in remounting the front sight.

The other point is the consideration of lightening the gun. The 452 Trainer isn't really heavy unless you have it scoped. If a short barreled scoped gun is what you are looking for, I'd be looking at a 452 American or a 455 American and maybe shorten that barrel to 16.5" or so.

Agree. I didn't realize that had a 16.2" barrel until now.

I have a 452 that has been cut back to 20". I got it in a trade. I will say that it is accurate. averages around half inch at fifty with CCISV. I have a 2-7 on it and I feel it needs more magnification.

What about the unobtainum 452 Scout, if to short then put it in an American stock?

Light weight squirrel rifle

Thanks. If I can find another 452. I will buy (trainer) due to them being scarce and

Yes my current rifle is scoped and heavy but drives tacks with CCI SVs.

My goal is a shorter cz to scope. I'm leaning toward a 455 20" or 16.5

But if I could find a 452 it would be hard to pass up. And cut barrel

IMHO, your best bet would be to find a 452 scout and put it in an American stock or add a recoil pad if you need a longer stock. Another option is a 455 synthetic suppressor ready with the 16.5" threaded barrel. I have one in 22 LR and it is lightweight, compact, and Very Accurate with CCI SV and also Gecco bolt. It wears a Leupold VX1 3-9 that I have set the parallax to 50 yds. I also have a 20" 17 hmr barrel that I put on it for late season squirrel hunting and it is <.50 for 5 shots at 50 yds.

If I were going to cut a 452 for scoped shooting, it would not be a Trainer due to the rear sight being left in place. I would rather have a 452 American to cut.

If you want a 20" 455, they have been available in synthetic for aprox $300 and probably the best bang for your buck.

I would not cut the 452 either. As I said earlier, I have one that I got in a trade that has been cut. It has been done professionally and the accuracy is there but the rear sight base is still on the barrel and is rather unsightly. I am sure that the value has been affected also. I hunt with it and it is fine, just a mod that I really don't care for.

Smile Shorten The Barrel ?

When you go to sell the gun everyone is going to ask why did you do it ?

It will limit the buyers that would want to purchase the rifle.

It would be like buying a Rolls Royce that someone painted orange with a spray can.
