Fairly long-term study on obesity and attitudes towards recently concluded. Short version:
In the period of study 1988-1994 approx 53% of the study group scored as overweight or obese. In the period of study 2009-2014 approx 66% of the study group scored as overweight or obese. People are getting fatter or, more precisely, more people are getting fat. Probably no new news there.
In the period of study 1988-1994 approx 56% of the group that scored as overweight or obese reported they were trying to lose weight. In the period of study 2009-2014 approx 49% of the group that scored as overweight or obese reported they were trying to lose weight. People are less concerned about being overweight. I think that's new news.
A new local BBQ restaurant is getting pushback from the town they are in. They are right on the main square and other stores are complaining about the smoke is getting into their businesses! I think there are a lot worse smells that could be in your business! I may go there again just to show my support for them!
4 day workweek for me, getting BBQ ribs on Friday, and get to see someone special two out of three days this weekend!
Took some time for a sound geezer nap. Interesting study shifts on obesety, Sophia.
Sugar's head looks like she may have some boxer in her woodpile, tho she certainly does appear to have plenty of pit as well. Good looking dog, regardless.
Back to the obesity thing; seems that I see many peoples who apparently never stop eating and I am always amazed at the ones too large to easily locomote under their own power, in electric carts in the Wal-Mart's buying huge quantities of junk foods. Reminds me of the old movie 'The loved One' that was perhaps the first place that food stuffing junkieism in the extreme was publicly acknowledged. Today, that behavior may be healthier than ever. I see as many people when stopped at intersections stuffing themselves w/something as I do talking &/or texting on their cell fones. Many do both. Oh, and there are many people who ALWAYS have some kinda large franchised fast food place fountain drink as well. Many of the large bodied/wide track/'lectric bat-cart shoppers in same Wal-Mart's are seen w/a 32oz. 'Slurp-Master' from some other place whilst emptying the junk food isles.
Hope you are feeling better shortly, dlong.
Nature's broad brush continues to paint everything here w/pollen and it would appear that she is enamored with the colour yellow.
Went a'skeeting yesterday afternoon for a coupla boxes just to see if some recently affected repairs on an old fav. 20ga. Std. weight 1100 resolved the issue it was having. It was 85 w/winds S23 G31! Crazy fun targets, managed to keep an '8' in front of my score, percentage wise. Repairs/remedies were effective. Presently at 3A it is 72 w/winds S13 G21. Forecast severe weather has yet to materialize, hope that it does not. Some more moisture in the form of spring showers would be most welcome; got close to a quarter inch the other morning, a gentle face wash for all the plants w/their many blooms. I think the roses were the most appreciative, but some of the early blooming iris as well, excepting the yellow flags who could have cared less. Thinking I may be a candidate for a sinus transplant.
