Overall it is feels like something from Magpul and with the 20" Kidd barrel it is pretty well balanced. The only thing I noticed immediately was the gap in the rear receiver to stock fit, everything else is tight and fits well but that gap is annoying.
I am headed to work for the evening so this is just a real quick initial impression with some pics for those curious. I will update with better pics once I get the remaining pieces for this build.
Anyone in the Phoenix area that would like to check it out in person before buying one let me know.

Thanks for the first impressions! Looking forward to hearing more. Especially curious about the "swappable" tray for different barrel diameters and possibilities for bedding the action.

Man I got mine coming tomorrow, I hope I don't have gap. I won't be happy with that.

I am not happy with the gap either and only had a few minutes to mess with it. The receiver is back as far as I could get it. My receiver is from an SR22 so wonder if it makes any difference.
Post pics when you get yours

+1 for sure
I would have figured a huge company like magpul would have noticed this in production. 97% of the builds has to be from stock receivers, even if the one in their ads are summit?

perhaps it is on purpose! as a place to apply bedding compound without having to remove stock material. The gap is a feature, not a sign of sloppy injection molding presumably outsourced to china, or lazy design.

Please don't tell me your presuming magpul outsources to China.

The gap may be there to accommodate various receivers that were manufactured over the years.

So is there anything special about the stock attachment point to the receiver? Is it just a metal bushing similar to the factory wood or does it have a bedding type of arrangement similar to the Titan stock?

Cool

Ok, it arrived. There is a gap at the rear of the receiver. .025 feeler gauge slides in tight.
What makes it so noticeable is that the sides are very tight. The receiver was almost a press fit on the sides. My stock is black and you really have to look for it to see it.

The double sided tray that fills the barrel area is a slick idea. It is held in place with 3 screws and very secure. Stiffens up the forearm of the stock as if it were wood.
It has an area about 3/16" wide at the very fore end to add preload to the barrel. Other then that 3/16" the rest of the channel is free floated.

The area behind the receiver appears to be hollow. Not 100% sure yet, but for sure the butt stock is made of 2 pieces seamed down the centerline of the stock. There are 3 screws holding it together at the rear. 2 under the cheek riser, 1 holding the adjustable LOP/ recoil pad in place. It appears that it's glued together or the fit is very good.

I bought the 3/4" riser because of the odd spot weld I prefer. Works just the way I like it.

So far, "it's a keeper"

This rifle has been to the range and benched before the change.
Now to get it back there and see what it did to accuracy.
