I'll pick up the search again at some point. If nothing else it would have been nice to get a story. But that dale "never had anything to do with firearm trafficking"
I still have hope!

Wow...Bastogne walnut? Any pictures of the rest of that piece? Looks absolutely stunning. May I ask where you purchased that from, and was it already a stock or just a blank?

If anybody really wants a nice looking striped stock, I just found this one on eBay...1966 walnut Overton carbine stock, $100.

Finished up the Rem 700 stock, turned out fairly well for a hunk of factory birch wood. Not the easiest stock to photograph indoors, especially with bad lighting and an iPhone camera...but you can see some of the stripes. It will look fairly boring at one angle, but will really pop just by slightly turning it. I'll get better pics this weekend if we get some sunshine.

Thanks, I wish I would have went a little darker with the stain, but it's still a big upgrade over the black synthetic stock.

Got impatient, went with what I had on hand instead of running to the store.

Thread Resurrected

I was thinking about painting this black. I heard truck bed-liner is easy, durable and will hide the flaws in the wood?...Tom

Yes, but you have to drag it behind a truck at 15-20 miles per hour down a gravel road for at least 5 miles. Check the rear view to make sure both sides are getting good and roughed up, or weight it with one side and just flip it over every half mile.

Recently built a 10/22 back to stock config to introduce my youngest... so you get to see the "stripes and smile" pic (again probably)
