Found a few Hipshot stock threads that I had missed. So got the link list all updated.

Hopefully this will help someone do there own stock as reading them helped me take the plunge the first time.

You did a supurb job on your version of the TNZ and you now possess a unique stock that will bring you immense satisfaction for years to come. Just as satisfying is the knowledge that you can do it again with whatever design may strike your fancy. I really hope to see many of your stocks in the future.

I've got to blame Sawdust for igniting this spark of creativity in me. I hope I can pass it along to others.

I've come full circle with my latest mod. Here is a preview of my updated "Tribute to Sawdust" benchrest stock...still a work in progress.

Now that, is what I'M talking about.... THis is the stock I have been trying to develop in my mind for a long time. I love this. I'm going to give this a try myself. I have gathered as much info here as possible. This is the stock I want to build. I am going to start with a basic factory stock for the inletting. Is that a good idea? What type of wood do you suggest I use for other parts? Thanks in advance. Dave

Dave,

I built that stock for my wife. She named it the Lavender Lady. Click here to review the thread about it.

Yes, the core of this stock is a basic Ruger carbine stock. I used poplar for all the other glued on parts.

Have fun with your project and post some in-progress pictures.

Thank you very much. That was very helpful and informative. I will post pics and progress. It will be slow progress, but I'll get done some day. THanks again Good shootin' Dave

I am going to just have to "bite the bullet" and try my hand at one of these things. I love the full look. Hmm. Future build #4 just added to the billet.

"A Tribute to Hipshot"

Gosh, after viewing these posts over and over again, I went out and
got a 10/22 carbine. Wood/Blued.

A thought...anyone have any "extra" wood stocks or know where
to get them?

Paul

Bump this thread back up to the top, just in case anyone is tempted to try there own stock. This way they will have some great reading material to help them out. As I am currently doing me a Hipshot-Black Tactical on the Cheap, I know the reading has sure helped me allot.

On page 1 is links to all of the Hipshot stocks.

Enjoy the reading, and remember you don't need allot of tools to do a mod. Handsaw, wood rasp , file, clamps (lots of), some glue and some Bondo and you can do a stock. Just takes a little longer than the guy with all the power tools.
