Practice, Air Rifle paper targets, yards
Date: 2-4-17
Class: AAA (Sporter)
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-16 @ 16X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 5
Pigs - 4
Turkeys - 2
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 18

Notes: 10 MPH crosswinds, 50 degrees. We had a work day to clean up the range so afterward I took the opportunity to re-zero my TX200 and get a match-worth of practice on some paper targets.

The club match is tomorrow so I'll have some real scores then.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettables, yards
Date: 2-5-17
Class: AAA (Sporter)
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-16 @ 16X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Round #1:
Chickens - 2
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 4
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 21

Round #2:
Rams - 6
Chickens - 6
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 3
TOTAL - 23

Round #3:
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 4
Chickens - 7
Pigs - 8
TOTAL - 25

Notes: temps in the upper 60's to low 70's, winds switching directions around 5-10 MPH.

The three rounds were Sporter, Target, and Open, but I shot my TX200 in all three (Sporter, Open, Open). I was chasing elevation changes through the whole morning, ending up almost two full MOA lower than my morning settings.

Nonetheless it was good practice before the Louisiana Chicken Coop Shoot next weekend.

Here are my results from the Team Hatch Chicken Coop regional air rifle match. Unfortunately the way the match was run means my report won't fit into the normal formatting for reporting scores, so please pardon the mess.

First match: Target Rifle, 2X 40-shot matches.
Rifle: Borrowed Anschutz 2002 SSP with JSB Diablo 7.33 pellets

Round #1:
Turkeys - 7 (FIAR)
Rams - 6
Chickens - 5
Pigs - 7
TOTAL - 25
(This classified me as AA for indoor Target rifle)

Round #2:
Turkeys - 9 (FIAR)
Rams - 7
Chickens - 6
Pigs - 8
TOTAL - 30 (new personal record!)

Aggregate score of 55 had me tied with another shooter for first place so we went to a shoot-off on Rams. We both missed the first, I hit the second and she didn't, so I got first place!

Since we were running four relays we finished the first set of matches close to 2pm, so they took a vote and decided to go to a single 60-shot match for Open rifle and Sporter rifle on Sunday.

Match #2: Open Rifle, 60-shots
Rifle: same as above

Pigs - 11
Turkeys - 10
Rams - 9
Chickens - 14 (two FIAR)
Total: 44/60 (classified as AAA, got second place)

Match #3 Sporter Rifle, 60-shots
Rifle: TX200, JSB Diablo Heavy 10.34 pellets

Chickens - 13
Pigs - 12
Turkeys - 9
Rams - 11
Total: 45/60 (classified as Master)

My very first Master score! I came in 7th out of 8 but who cares!

We had 26 shooters from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and one drove in from Georgia. The Team Hatch folks put on a really good match and being "inside" away from any wind was a real treat.

Practice: TQ-14 50-foot paper, indoor
Date: 2-15-17
Class: AA/AAA
CZ-452 Silhouette
Weaver T-16
SK Standard Plus

Round #1:
Chickens - 8
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 31

This beats my previous PR for indoor practice by one point!

Round #2:
Chickens - 9
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 29

I was worried that my good performance this past weekend would disappear after switching back to my CZ 452, but it seems to have held for the most part. The next club match will really tell if that's true or not.

MATCH #1
DIVISION-HUNTER
SHOOTER CLASS-AA
FIREARM-CZ 452 SILHOUETTE

AMMO-CCI-SV
TARGETS- NRA 1/5 STEEL SPINNERS

CHICKENS.....3

PIGS.............6

TURKEYS........2

RAMS............3

TOTAL..........14

Not even close to my last months score. I am embarrassed to post this. No excuses, weather is really nice today. Upper 50's, 6 o'clock tail wind less than 10 mph, sunny. Feels like early April here. I should have done much better.

When I got to the range, nobody else was there. After I was set up a few others showed up and commented on my shooting off-hand. They thought it was a waste of ammo. Maybe on some unconscious level they got in my head. Anyway, it was a bad match for me.

Not quite as good as last week's practice but I'll take it.

Club match this weekend so I'll have some real scores Saturday afternoon.

Match #1, NRA steel, yards
Date: 2-25-17
Class: AA/AAA
Rifle: CZ 452 Silhouette
Scope: Weaver V-16 @ 16X
Ammo: SK Standard Plus

Round #1:
Chickens - 3
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 3
TOTAL - 18

Round #2:
Chickens - 7
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 26

Notes: Blustery winds 10-15 MPH, cool temps in the upper 50's and lower 60's.

The winds really blew us around the first match and almost everyone's scores were lower than normal. The second round was better as the winds started to die down a bit.

Do you guys have a place for Cowboy rimfire silhouette here yet? Today was our home club match, and I have been shooting AAA class, at best. Today I barrowed my friends Henry with a Williams Foolproof and shot a 39 of 40; missing only the first turkey!

Sorry STRUGL4X'SC, there isn't a Cowboy Division here.

But I am glad you posted your results. That is the finest Silhouette score I have ever seen.

My hat is off to you, sir.
