GM into a LVT stock

Since I couldn't justify the $ on a new LVT, I finally found a deal on a stock and I'm moving my GM 18" 920 set up over to that stock while its current furniture undergoes a transformation...

Just got the stock sanded out to where the barrel fits nicely without the take down screw involved. After tightening it down I could feel the barrel/action and stock coming together more.

Figure I may as well shoot it as is and see, but assuming I'm going to end up bedding it, the question becomes where? FWIW I've got some aluminum tape on the receiver to tighten up its fit, with the old stock (Boyds tacticool) I was using a pad of aluminum tape for the first few inches of the barrel at the V block, free floating the rest. Never got into measuring groups, but it was good enough for golf balls at 100 and 125 yards....

So... what bedding points have worked for you on your SSH build?

I have found Permatex works best for me. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...d.php?t=645761
I have used it to make support pads for a 20" hammer forged factory, and a Kidd .920. After casting my pads I cut them to a length of 1.5" to 2.5". I have found that pads made to the correct thickness, for just support, without excess pressure work best.
In my case I have found a pad in front of the take down, and, or at the tip to work best. It can be one or the other, or a combination of both.

I have used mine in a OEM laminate Target stock.

Edit. Mine is free floated, so a business card will slide the length of the channel, when the pads are not in.

You may want to look here...

In SuperStock Tech Stickie "How do you bed your 10/22":

http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...d.php?t=195425

The Aluminum Tape Bedding tutorial is also there at:

For a little more difficult but good way you might look at Chromie's version also in the Stickies:

Hopefully one of them might help you!!
