Well phooey. ..
Another marlin model 60 will be residing at my house soon.
Won a 1986 , and i didn't do as good as the 51 dollar glenfield squirrel stock rifle.
This time it was 56 bucks.
I've GOT to stop looking at the auction sites.
But ? But ? But ?
For the price, i couldn't let it escape! !! Could you ???
This is it. I'm done.
No more . I mean it...seriously.
No kidding.

I'm adding a third Model 60 to my collection, soon. This one is from 1990.

Ha.. you guy's are not helping one little bit.
For petes sake..
I'm totally smitten with the marlin 60s.
And glenfields.
And i really don't know why or how i fell totally in love with them...

Got a safe full of old remingtons, winchesters, brownings.rugers....
Love em all...
But there's just something sweet and special about the old marlin model 60. ..
Just caint quite put my finger on it...why ?
I just do..

Probably just like this 86 i just bought.
This makes two 1986s i have..
22 inch barrel.
18 shooter
And last shot hold open.
ArrowDodger told me those few years , with those options is his favorites.
They seem to have the best of the best.
Although. ..having said that..
This glenfield i fixed up. ( the barrel )
It's an older squirrel stock rifle.
And the trigger isent that bad.
I had broken the toe off the trigger guard.
Managed to fix it with JB weld.
Ordered a cartridge lifter, firing pin, feed throat.
Ejector spring.
And i just love shooting it open sights.
Once ArrowDodger gets it, and installed all the parts.
It will most likely be my pickup/tractor rifle.
"IF" i ever find a old glenfield squirrels rifle again..
I will try and attempt to upgrade it myself.
I sure enjoy the utube videos.
Maybe i might learn something.

I think it's a form of Marlinitis. That's when you have multiple Marlin rifles in your collection. I think we have the form of that where we have multiple Model 60's. In addition to the one I'm getting in the near future, the other two I have are from '93 and '95, respectively.

Wow! I'm glad that I'm not afflicted like all of you guys. I only have one (of each), Mountie, 60, 795, 995.

Have you shot one of the new ones?

buckweet: I know I shouldn't tell you this, but have you by any chance ever shot one of the newer Marlin 60's made in Mayfield, Kentucky?

If you are serious about quiting...don't shoot one of the Kentucky-made Marlin 60's.

I have a bunch of other targets shot with this Marlin 60, but since you are trying to quit buying them, I'm not going to show them to you.

ahhh.... you speak the truth.. a friend of mine recently bought a new Mod 60, and it shoots just almost exactly like yours does. The first time I shot his, I put 10 shots into about 3/4" at 50 yds... and I'm not really that good of a benchrest type shooter.

My 795 has done some groups like that, but I usually manage to jerk one out of the group most of the time.

Can't wait to get my early 80's Glenfield out to the range (hopefully this weekend)
I got the new black bolt buffer and buffer pin installed... just need to mount a scope on it...

I just did a quick count... 14 copies of different variants of Model 60/70.

And 4 Marlin lever guns
And 2 917V's
And 2 22 mag bolt guns
And a 922M
And a Model 9
And an MR-7 30-06.

I think I've finally accumulated more Marlins than Mossbergs.

Yes, I'm sick.

Three years ago I had no Marlin semi-auto .22lr's.
Now I own:
1980 squirrel Glenfield 60
1989 Marlin 60 long tube with lsho
1988 Marlin 70
1967 Glenfield 70
1966 Marlin 99M1
1967 Marlin 989M2
1975 Marlin 49dl
2015 Marlin 60sb

The best part is other than the last gun that I purchased new at Walmart 10% off, the rest of the guns all came locally or in my travels at less than $150 each used.
