I picked up a well used 99m1 at a gun show and it just happened to ride home with me. I think it was rode hard and put away wet. It had mold growing in it. I finally got around to tearing it down and start to clean it, but was surprised by the bolt. On the underside of the bolt(roller side) I can see the half moon of the ejector showing through the bolt. Is that normal or is this bolt worn that much? I know that the bolt on my 795 is not like that?

Iam really surprised that no one on this forum has ever seen the opening on the underside of the bolt. Maybe it should not be there. I might be better off replacing the bolt, feed ramp, springs, and the whole works.

I guess Marlin tightened their quality control after they made the 99m1 . Some of the newer bolts look like they are machined a lot better.

I have torn down probably 50 Marlin 60 and variants the past year. The hole you described was seen in several of the older ones. It is interesting to see the changes over the years. Some may disagree, but the change in the feed throat and lifter in the early 1980's was a major improvement.
