Does anyone know if the factory standard front sight is always the same height and width? I want to order a Dawson replacement and have become confused with the variety of heights and widths available. I'd measure the one I have, but I don't 'have' it yet; just bought on GB. If someone would be kind enough to measure theirs I would be grateful.

Every bbl. length has a different height, and ribbed vs non-ribbed are different. What model are you talking about?

I recommend that you wait until you actually have the pistol before you think about the front sight blade. The reason for the height choices is tailoring the blade height to the distance you prefer to shoot at so you don't use up all your rear sight adjustment trying to get there. The width differences are because some shooters prefer more or less light on either side of the blade.
