Clean my mkiii... I've cleaned it quite a few times but haven't stripped it down until this afternoon...or at least it was the afternoon when I started! Ugh! I had watched enough videos to feel relatively confident in stripping it down, which frankly was pretty easy. I then cleaned it and the fun started when I started putting it back together. It was pretty simple and easy....until....I placed the pin in and tried to close it to complete the job. This was when after 30 minutes trying to get it closed that I wanted to cuss and throw it against the wall!!! After screwing with it for another 20 minutes or so I finally got it together and then the chamber wouldn't open and I got to pull it apart and start over!!!!
Finally I got it back together...what a pain in the butt...and now I understand why there are so many complaints!
What about that conversion by, if memory serves, Majestic Arms? I've thought about buying that for my Mark II every time I clean it. And no, I've never taken it down for fear of re-assembly. I hose it down with brake cleaner and re-lube.

THAT is EXACTLY what I JUST DID!!! my GOLD LITE MKIII went bye bye on a trade for my new MKIV stainless target. I loved the LITE, BUT............I guess I am a HAPPY lesser man. LOL
Fortunately, you don't have to strip them down very often to keep them functioning well. Those videos sure do help.
I've taken mine apart 2 or 3 times, and it got a bit easier the next time.
It gets better with time and practice. Also with some careful polishing and even LIGHT stoning or filing of spots that are less than perfect. You can't see the mating surfaces of the hook at the front of the frame. That's an important area to keep clean and lightly lubed/greased and somehow make sure it's smooth if there's any doubt.
It's worth the pain if only for the day you're at the range and pick up an empty cartidge to flip the lock open and strip your MKIII and re-assemble just to show someone how easy it is when you know what you're doing.
It takes patience, remember my first time, took it gunsmith, after giving up, but now I can tear it down and assemble just has quick!
Things loosen up, and falls into place with practice.
I took the time to learn the process of complete disassembly because I felt it was important. Once I mastered it I bought the MA speed strip kit because I like to clean the barrel and chamber more often than the entire gun.
1. Follow the directions
2. You will need a mag on hand-NO AMMO at the bench..
3. The dingle dangle must be in the correct place
4. The muzzle must be pointed UP
5. The trigger must be pulled w/ the mag in.
6. All of a sudden it just pops together.
7. Then you are ready for the next cleaning
