Glad you got it figured out. A pic is worth a thousand guesses.

It's no wonder companies can't beta test for all the ways us pubic can mess things up! Did you hurt the ring threads?

+1...

IF the receiver threads are stripped, it would be prudent to strip the receiver, secure properly in a vise and drill to next size larger threads...1/4"x 20...AND make a 'pillar' mount bushing to install in the stock to ensure a FIRM bottoming of the take down screw.

it's more time consuming than difficult and can be accomplished with most garage workshop tools.
