Wilson barrels and Cooper
Between myself and good friend who makes many trips west to PD shoot with me,we have owned upwards of 16 different Cooper rifles, non rimfire. All of these rifles had very nice wood and Wilson barrels. For the most part these rifles Will shoot about 3/4 to just under an inch at most range sessions with hand loads. I and my friend rate these rifles as good shooters but not absolute tack drivers.. Several have went out to Greg Tannel for accurizing and came back as consistent 1/2 inch shooters at 100 yds. We have often wondered the test groups target that comes with all Coopers must be shot at 50 yds or closer because we never Seem to shoot as tight a group that comes with the rifle when purchased new. I'm certainly not complaining about Wilson barrels..I just think their on par with ER Shaw..better barrels than most factory barrels but not in the same class as Kreiger ,Bartlein ,Obermyer ..etc. I'm just saying that a 2500.00 Cooper should come with a premium target quality barrel...
