Practice: TQ-14 50-foot paper, indoor
Date: 4-5-17
Class: AA/AAA
CZ-452 Silhouette
Weaver T-24
SK Standard Plus

Round #1:
Chickens - 9
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 9
TOTAL - 33

My new personal best for indoor paper! If this were a Hunter match it would be my first Master score with this rifle. (Master score for Standard starts at 34.) Turkeys still messed with me but I kept it together on the Rams to make for a great score.

Round #2:
Chickens - 7
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29

I felt my focus, shot selection, and follow-through starting to wane on this second round but managed to hold on and not fall apart completely.

Got a post-work practice session in before tomorrow's club match. It seems my good indoor 50' practice scores don't mean diddely-squat when I get outdoors.

I'll post official scores after the club match tomorrow afternoon.

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Date: 4-7-17
CZ-452 Silhouette
Weaver T-24
SK Standard Plus

Round #1
Standard Rifle
Class: AA

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 8 (five in a row)
Turkeys - 3
Rams - 9 (five in a row)
TOTAL - 26

I hit nine rams in a row and the tenth went right between the legs. (D'oh!) Turkeys didn't help me out at all.

Round #2
Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 3
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 23

Started on Rams and just could not connect. Made up some ground on the Pigs but bombed again on the Turkeys.

We had a good turn-out with about 20 participants and the weather was warm with medium breezes at our backs. All in all, a good match.

We've been rained out on our last two club air rifle silhouette matches so the match director scheduled an informal match for today after work.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettables, yards
Date: 4-12-17

Round #1, Sporter:
Class: AAA
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 25

Round #2, Target:
Class: AA
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Weaver V-16 @ 16X

Chickens - 5
Pigs - 5
Turkeys - 4
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 21

Round #3, Open:
Class: AA
Same TX200

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 3
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 25

The wind was blowing a good 10-12 MPH diagonally (rear right to front left) which made for some interesting hold-offs, especially with the Target rifle.

I shot these scores right after doing the 25-yard and 50-yard offhand targets.

Practice: NRA steel swingers
Date: 4-15-17
Class: Standard-AA / Hunter-AAA
CZ-452 Silhouette
Weaver T-24
SK Standard Plus

Round #1:
Chickens - 7
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 32

My highest score ever on real outdoor steel beating my previous match high score of 29! Why can't I get this kind of score during a match?!?

Round #2:
Chickens - 5
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 4
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 22

Felt my support arm getting tired and had a few complete spazz shots that let me know I was getting tired overall.

Started to sprinkle between pigs/turks. I kinda rushed the turks and rams, 'cause my stuff was getting wet. But I was O.K. with the scores. Of course now that I am inside posting my scores, the rain has stopped.

Our second Wednesday afternoon air rifle practice. I took four practice shots with my Target rifle and it stopped working so I did all three matches with my TX200.

Sunny but winds were 10-12 MPH and switching from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock.

Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 27

Round #2, Open:

Same TX200.

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 25

Round #3, Sporter:

We have a regular smallbore club match this weekend so I'll post up those scores after the match.

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Date: 4-2-17
CZ-452 Silhouette
Weaver T-24
SK Standard Plus

Round #1
Standard Rifle
Class: AA

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 5
Turkeys - 3
Rams - 3
TOTAL - 20

Started on Pigs, had a hard time connecting until I got to Chickens.

Round #2
Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 5
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 23

Started well enough on Chickens but failed to keep it going on Pigs. Turkeys and Rams were better than the first match but not by much. No real excuses for my scores other than me not doing well enough on my trigger control and follow-through.

On a side note, Elisabeth Steiger got her third 40/40 today during the second match. Congratulations Elisabeth!

We're supposed to have some smallbore practice this Wednesday evening so I'll have some practice scores then.
