First shots

What a rifle! Shot my first shots today and after figuring out how to work my buddies front rest and and getting acclimated to a trigger that requires little effort to pull I actually hit some bull eyes and even put some rounds in the same hole.....I will admit I thought it would be easier but it takes a tremendous amount of skill and patience. I was surprised by the wind effect and also the number of fliers. I shot federal target Ammo so nothing expensive as I new I would be in a learning mode.

Will post a photo of my target shortly.....

Vann,
That one looks sweet.
Put some Eley black box through it, you will be amazed.
Those rifles are still very competitive today against custom rigs.
Sold my first 150 a few years ago, still have a 150-1 like yours, but it has never been fired.

When you say you shot Federal target Match, you aren't referring to Automatch are you? Try some good quality ammo.....at least in the range of SK Standard, Center-X, etc. Eley Match level would be better. The gun should be capable of consistently doing like the results you got on bullseye #5 - and better - pretty consistently. Assuming everything is in order.

AMMO

I shot Federal Target Grade 22LR(1200FPS) through it and some Federal Gold Medal Target(1080FPS) which didn't do all that well in my initial practice. I switched to the Target grade stuff as it was a higher FPS and it seemed to like it better. I have better ammo just decided not to use it until I got an idea how the Suhl performed.

Vann,
Pump.22s is correct, even the best Federal is not very consistent. Try some of the European brands
that pump22 mentioned. Wolf is basically the same as SK.
Top tear ammo would be Eley, RWS, or Lapua.
Also within these brands there are different "levels". Basically the more you pay the better the ammo.
That Suhl should do much better with the right ammo.
Hope this helps.

Unless you were using Federal Ultramatch you were shooting junk. Try decent ammo or you will not learn anything about your rifle.

Eley Black Box, Tenex, Lapua CenterX, RWS50
SK plus, Rifle match are the lowest decent ammo I found.
